NEWS & ACTIVITY - 16 JUN 2017
Recently I just came back from my annual design trip to Salone del Mobile 2017 in Milan. Some people asked me, why I go to the Salone every year. Am I not getting bored about this annual event? What's the importance on going there again and again? Actually, in the contrary, Salone del Mobile and all its conjunction events is that time of the year I've been always waiting for.
Here are the reasons why
Going to Salone del Mobile is so refreshing and full of new ideas. I notice that my design approach and knowledge are shaped and improved.
In conjunction with this biggest furniture fair in the world, there are also the Fuorisalone and Milan Design Week. And for this year, is also the time for Trienalle. So many exhibitions and installations around the city, I never had enough time to visit them all. Do you know a fun fact about this event? It's bigger than any other event in Milan, including Milan Fashion Week!

Most of the time we will see the latest trend in interior design, especially furniture, debuting in Salone del Mobile.
Time to time, I also noticed that in Salone del Mobile, we can summarize the latest color and material scheme, which will be big in the following year. And for 2017 I still see a lot of green (from mint green to jade green), pink (soft pastel pink), and teal blue. Minerals in furniture are still going strong: brass, rose gold, and various kinds of marble and onyx.
Famous Architects and Designers sighting. A lot of them are in Milan during the Salone. For this year, there are Yabu Pushelberg, Andre Fu, Jaime Hayon, Nendo, etc. If you are lucky enough, you will meet and even talk to some of them!
